Done in conjunction with Art Play and with support from the City of Melbourne, this project plans to explore the perceptions and relationships our children have of our world.

Pen Plan Paris is a full-scale cardboard model of a Parisian apartment that invites children from Melbourne to imagine what it might be like to live on the other corner of the world.

Children will be asked to actively interpret their understanding of the Parisian apartment by drawing on the model's surfaces.
The apartment becomes a canvas and through drawing Pen Plan Paris becomes the construction of the Melbourne children who visit.
When exhibited, the model will also be brought to life as the sounds of the children engaging with the space is recorded and played back. These sounds will provide an extra element to the experience of the space for both young and old.

This project gives children the opportunity to creatively communicate their understanding of the world. It also gives adults the opportunity to see what it is the children think of each other and the rest of the world.

Pen Plan Paris is an extension to an existing project "Heads Upside Down, Feet on the Earth" The first phase of this project has already been completed with over 90 school children in Melbourne and Paris participating. The work can be viewed on our website:
